May Turkeys

The month of May feels like spring in Northern New York and love is in the air.  Eastern Turkeys are in full breeding mode and the woods echo with the "gobbles" of lovesick Toms.  If you have never hunted them, its a new experience.  If your lucky enough to kill one of these impressive, wary, puffed out, strutting monarchs, you'll be hooked.  It happens a lot but certainly not every hunt.  There is nothing easy about it.  We hunt one guide per hunter. Day break till noon.

It's what's for dinner, son. (2004)

"Daddy, when I grow up, can I guide hunters to 23 1/2 pound slob, boss turkeys like you?" " Sorry son, I think you're going to have to get a real job."

Life isn't fair. You think you hear seductive yelps and purrs coming from down the valley, you go right down there, all fired up with love on your mind and someone shoots you upside the head with a load of magnum #5's.
