November Hunts

The migration peaks sometime in November, depending on what the weather has been like.  As the month progresses, Geese and Ducks of every species that uses the Atlantic Flyway make an appearance in our region. Much of the hunting is still done inland in private swamps.  As the temperatures drop and inland waters freeze up, our hunting moves to the bigger marshes of the open water.

A wonderful morning on one of our private leases.  Many long-time clients become good friends of ours.  We look forward to seeing them as Fall approaches.

Charlie's favorite hole, I can't imagine why.

If you hunt with your kids, you'll never have to hunt for them.

First freeze is always a great time.  Mallards, Blacks and some mount-worthy Gadwall Drakes.

This shallow water offshore setup has proven itself deadly to scores of Broadbills, Redheads and Goldeneyes

Calm, sunny weather generally equals poor waterfowl hunting, but every now and then, you get lucky.  This wild shoot, the third week of November, took us by surprise.  These expert wing-shots collected Mallards, Black Ducks, Widgeon, Pintails, Gadwall, Greater Scaup., Lesser Scaup, Ringnecks, Goldeneyes, and Canada Geese.

These "Good Old Boys" from South Texas said they've never seen geese decoy like that before.  They also said that  they have never shot any Canadas but have shot thousands of Snows, the biggest one being about 6 pounds.  The Lunker in the middle weighed 13 pounds!

Any Complaints?
